The CRN Women in Channel Awards take place every year to shine a light on the IT leaders, influencers, exceptional employees and role models who will inspire the next generation. We’re extremely proud to have five of our wonderful women in the shortlist. Meet Jen, who is nominated for the Manager of the Year award.

Name: Jen Molyneux

Job title: HR Director

Nominated for: Manager of the Year

What’s your favourite part of the job?

I have a few! Working with a lot of talented people, having the opportunity to introduce changes that have a positive effect on employees who work at LUK, and managing a great HR team.

What did you want to be when you were young?

I wanted to be the person that worked behind the meat counter in the supermarket! I think I was impressed by the machine that was used to cut the meat and being surrounded by food is not a bad thing!

What is your best WFH tip?

Everyone’s situation is very different so it’s hard to give a blanket tip but I quickly learnt saying “I’m going to work now” and making it clear I was at work helped keep my personal time separate from work even though both were constantly in the same location.

What’s something interesting you have done during the COVID-19 lockdown?

Bought a house and began 4 months of renovation works.

How have you acted as a role model to other women in business? And what do you think would encourage more women into technical roles?

I think one of the most important aspects of encouraging women into tech roles and tech companies is to create an environment that is supportive, fair, open and encourages progression and achievement no matter what your gender is (or age, race, ethnicity, etc.). This needs to start with strong leadership, acting on and living these values, which disseminates through managerial practices too.

Congratulations to all of the very worthy shortlisted nominees who have worked hard to be in a position where they are considered for such a prestigious award. We’re looking forward to this year’s virtual awards ceremony on 14-15 October, where we’ll find out who will be lifting the trophy!
