The CRN Women in Channel Awards take place every year to shine a light on the IT leaders, influencers, exceptional employees and role models who will inspire the next generation. We’re extremely proud to have five of our wonderful women in the shortlist. Meet Sarah, who is nominated for the Unsung Hero award.

Name: Sarah Pidgeon

Job title: Sales Operations Manager

Nominated for: Unsung Hero

What’s your favourite part of the job?

I really enjoy problem solving and finding resolutions to challenges - I hate to be beaten by an issue! The best part of my job is working with such a great team and supporting them to be successful.

What did you want to be when you were young?

I’m not sure I had a clue when I was younger, but it was instilled in me to work hard! With my Mum being a teacher and my Dad running his own small business, they gave me a very strong work ethic, and I still dream of being my own boss one day.

What is your best WFH tip?

Set boundaries to achieve the right work/life balance – something I struggled with more when working in an office and travelling. Unless there is an urgent requirement, I log off at 6.15pm most evenings to go for a walk. It’s also important to move away from your desk throughout the day, as you don’t have the natural breaks you would in an office.

What’s something interesting you have done during the COVID-19 lockdown?

Become obsessed with walking! My current target is 11,000 steps per day - I feel like I’ve aged 10 years during lockdown as the highlight of a weekend is planning which National Trust property to book for a long walk! 😊

How have you acted as a role model to other women in business? And what do you think would encourage more women into technical roles?

In my previous role at Logicalis, I championed many team members to develop into new roles or take on additional responsibility to enable professional growth. To encourage more women in IT, we need to break down the stereotype that it’s male dominated or geeky! It’s exciting and innovative!

Congratulations to all of the very worthy shortlisted nominees who have worked hard to be in a position where they are considered for such a prestigious award. We’re looking forward to this year’s virtual awards ceremony on 14-15 October, where we’ll find out who will be lifting the trophy!
