Microsoft Ignite 2024: Copilot innovation and advancements in security

United Kingdom, Dec 4, 2024

Microsoft Ignite is officially over and is closing out 2024 with a bang!

The major announcements highlighted this year focused on Copilot and Security. While this may not come as a surprise, everyone should be excited about what these advancements mean for the upcoming year.

The announcements around Copilot emphasised its integration with other Microsoft tools, making it more user-friendly and expanding its overall capabilities. The integration covers the entire Microsoft 365 system, including things like, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel and Pages.

"Last year was almost a concept of AI, this year it’s about rolling it out.” Seamus Flynn, Sales Specialist Manager, Logicalis UK&I.

Even when Copilot wasn't the main topic, AI’s presence still loomed during the Security discussions. The biggest announcement in this area was Microsoft's Zero Day Quest: the largest hacking event of its kind. Zero Day Quest offers potential awards of $4 million for research into specific areas, such as cloud and AI.

Another interesting announcement from Ignite was from NetApp, who unveiled the NetApp Connector capability!

“This (NetApp Connector) allows organisations and modern workplace audiences to connect securely to any Copilot around the word, with any NetApp system around the world.” Kirk Ryan, Office of the CTO, NetApp.
